What each Etsy fee is
Listing fee
$0.20 USD each time you list an item. A listing lasts four months, and the fee is charged whether or not the item sells. Auto-renewing costs another $0.20, and Etsy lists $0.20 for each additional quantity on a multi-quantity sale. The calculator charges it once per item sold. That is an estimate, because the pages we read don't spell out how renewals are billed per sale.
Transaction fee
6.5% of the total order amount. Shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer count toward that total.
Payment processing fee
A percentage plus a fixed amount on each order, set by the country of your bank account: US 3% + $0.25, UK 4% + £0.20, Germany 4% + €0.30, Australia 3% + A$0.25 (4% + A$0.25 for international buyers), India 5% + ₹25. Etsy charges it on the item total including shipping and any sales tax. The calculator leaves sales tax out.
Offsite Ads fee
Charged only on orders Etsy attributes to its ads off Etsy, using a 30-day attribution window. It is 15% of the order amount, or 12% once your shop has made $10,000 USD or more in any consecutive 365 days. It never exceeds $100 USD per order. Below that threshold you can opt out. Once you pass it, the program is mandatory for the shop's lifetime.
Regulatory operating fee
A small percentage charged in some countries on item price plus shipping. Etsy's list includes Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, Italy 0.80%, India 0.05%, Spain 0.88%, Turkiye 1.67%, the UK 0.48% and Vietnam 1.24%. The US is not on it. Germany and Australia are not either, so the calculator uses 0 for them.
Questions sellers ask
What fees does Etsy charge when I make a sale?
A $0.20 USD listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and a payment processing fee (3% + $0.25 USD for US shops). Some orders also carry an Offsite Ads fee of 15% or 12%, and shops in some countries pay a small regulatory operating fee. The calculator adds them up and subtracts your own costs to show your net profit.
How much is the Etsy transaction fee?
6.5% of the total order amount. Shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer count toward that total.
Does Etsy charge fees on the shipping I charge?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to shipping you charge. Payment processing is charged on the item total including shipping and any sales tax. Where it applies, the regulatory operating fee is charged on item price plus shipping.
How much does Etsy payment processing cost?
It depends on the country of your bank account. US 3% + $0.25 USD, UK 4% + £0.20, Germany 4% + €0.30, Australia 3% + A$0.25 for domestic orders and 4% + A$0.25 for international ones, India 5% + ₹25.
How much are Offsite Ads fees, and can I opt out?
Offsite Ads cost 15% of the order amount on orders attributed to the ads, and the fee never exceeds $100 USD per order. Once your shop has made $10,000 USD or more in any consecutive 365 days the rate is 12% and the program becomes mandatory for the shop's lifetime. Shops below that threshold may opt out. The attribution window is 30 days.
Do I pay a listing fee if my item doesn't sell?
Yes. The $0.20 USD listing fee is charged whether or not the item sells. A listing expires after four months, and auto-renewing costs another $0.20. This calculator looks at one sale at a time and counts the listing fee once per item sold, so fees on listings that never sell are a separate cost for you to track.
What is the regulatory operating fee?
A percentage fee Etsy applies in certain countries, charged on item price plus shipping. It is not charged in the US. Etsy lists the UK at 0.48% and India at 0.05%, among others.
Does Etsy work out its fees before or after my discount?
We couldn't confirm it. The Etsy help pages we read don't say whether fees are calculated after a seller discount. This calculator assumes they are, so it works them out on quantity × price − discount + shipping charged. Check a discounted order against your Etsy payment statement.
Does the calculator include sales tax and refunds?
No. Both are left out. Etsy charges payment processing on sales tax it collects, so the processing fee here can come out a little low. Refunds and returns are not modelled either.
Why doesn't this match my Etsy statement?
It is an estimate. Likely reasons are sales tax, a 2.5% currency conversion fee when Etsy has to convert, the way discounts and listing fees are counted, or a rate that has changed since 2026-11-03. Compare a few orders with your statement and edit the rates if they differ.
Assumptions and sources
- Rates were checked on 2026-11-03 from Etsy's help pages and may change without notice. None of those pages shows an effective date. We read the help pages, not Etsy's formal Fees & Payments Policy, which would not load.
- Sales tax and refunds are excluded.
- Results are estimates. Compare them with your Etsy payment statements.
- Fees are worked out on the order total after your discount. The listing fee is counted once per item sold.
- Not included: the 2.5% currency conversion fee, the shop set-up fee, Etsy Ads, and taxes Etsy withholds from some sellers, such as India's TCS and TDS.
- Etsy states the listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap in USD. The calculator treats them as plain numbers in your shop currency and does no currency conversion, so enter your own amounts.
